The BoardWalk Deli- A Review

boardwalk in disney world

The BoardWalk Deli is a Quick Service restaurant, located right on the Boardwalk. It is not an immediately obvious choice, but I am here to say that it is actually quite good and a place to keep in mind if you are in the Boardwalk area.

The fact that it is located on the Boardwalk is both a pro and a con. First, it is nice that the restaurant is not located in a park, because anyone can eat at the BoardWalk Deli without needing a park ticket. However, it is a little bit out of the way, and I wouldn't suggest that people should travel to the Boardwalk simply to eat at the BoardWalk Deli. If you do happen to be staying at a Boardwalk area resort, such as Yacht Club, Beach Club, or Boardwalk Inn, or you are simply spending some time exploring the Boardwalk/surrounding area, keep the BoardWalk Deli in mind for a great quick meal.

If you are traveling to the BoardWalk Deli, I think the easiest way to reach it is by the skyliner. The restaurant is a 5 minute walk from the skyliner stop in Epcot. It is easy on, easy off and the skyliner runs on a constant loop. In fact, both times I have eaten at the BoardWalk Deli, we had simply wanted to take a ride on the Skyliner and the BoardWalk Deli was a perfect, convenient location to grab a meal while doing so.

The BoardWalk Deli is open from 7am to 10pm daily and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast menu features a couple different breakfast sandwiches and lots of different pastries including cinnamon buns, muffins, scones, croissants, etc. Prices are reasonably for breakfast, with the breakfast sandwiches coming in around $9 and the pastries around $4. I have personally never eaten breakfast at the BoardWalk Deli, but the pastries do sound delicious. I am sure the breakfast sandwiches are standard to the ones you will find throughout the parks.

The lunch/dinner menu at the BoardWalk Deli features a range of subs, wraps, sandwiches, and salads. With an entree, you get a choice between kettle chips or coleslaw. There are also pastries such as cupcakes, half-moon cookies, and cream puffs. The restaurant also features special seasonal desserts during specific times of the year (for example a peppermint cheesecake bar during Christmas time). On average, the sandwiches and salads are anywhere from $10-$15 each, which is not terrible for a lunch item in Disney World. The menu also feels a lot healthier if you are looking for a break from other greasy options you might find in the parks.

chicken salad wraps from BoardWalk Deli in Disney World

The portion sizes are generous at the BoardWalk Deli and you will feel full after your meal. When I visited this restaurant, I had the chicken salad wrap. It was a spinach wrap filled with a good amount of rotisserie chicken, grapes, and walnuts. It tasted good and was filling, but also felt like a light meal that wouldn't weigh me down for the rest of my day in the Florida heat. The wrap cost $11.29 and came with a bag of kettle chips, which I saved for an afternoon snack later that day.

roasted turkey sandwich from BoardWalk Deli in Disney World

My mom got the roasted turkey sandwich, which was HUGE. It was a sub roll with roasted turkey, tomatoes, provolone, and garlic aioli. She reported that it tasted good. We appreciated that there was a good amount of turkey on the sandwich, because it would be so easy for them to give you a giant roll with hardly any filling in it. This sub cost $10.49, which was impressive for how much food was there. It also came with coleslaw.

The BoardWalk Deli also has deli size pickes on their menu. These feel old school and fit in with the vibe of the surrounding Boardwalk. These will cost you $2.50 each.

It's important to note that this restaurant accepts the resort refillable mugs, so you can get even more use out of them if you eat here, and not have to pay for a drink. If you don't have the resort mug, there is a wide range of sodas, coffee, juice, etc. to drink.

view from the boardwalk of crescent lake in disney world

The best part about the BoardWalk Deli is the view. There is no indoor seating for this restaurant, but instead, there are tables and benches set up along with Boardwalk that you can eat at. The tables face towards Crescent Lake and you can enjoy the pleasant view of the water, the resorts in the distance, and the occasional water ferry passing through. It is the timeless "boardwalk" experience that will make you feel like you are in the likes of Ocean City Maryland. You may even have a surrey bike or two pass by you on the Boarwalk. This can be rough during the summer months, since it is extremely hot in Florida and outdoor seating means no AC.

All in all, the BoardWalk Deli is a great option, but only if you are already in the Boardwalk area. The portions are large, the menu features lighter, less greasy fare, the prices are reasonable, and the ambiance of the Boardwalk is extremely pleasant. I wouldn't go out of my way to get to the Boardwalk just to eat here, but if you are going to be in the neighborhood consider going to this Quick Service restaurant. It is definitely one of the best spots to grab a cheap, fast meal in the immediate area.
