Disney World is filled with food stands and snack carts. All of the options and smells wafting throughout the parks can be overwhelming. Here are my top picks for snacks, when you just can't decide yourself!
Magic Kingdom
1) Adventureland Spring Roll Cart
This snack cart is a new find for me and I just recently tried it for the first time this Spring. I had heard a lot about it from fellow Disney World fans and decided to check it out. The cheeseburger spring roll from this cart is amazing and will be a go-to snack for me whenever I am in Magic Kingdom. It is a delicious fried spring roll filled with ground beef, cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard, and is served with thousand island sauce for dipping. You get two spring rolls for $9.50. The first time I ordered these baby's I thought my boyfriend and I could split the order and have 1 spring roll each. Boy was I wrong- I wanted both spring rolls for myself! Highly recommend for a quick snack while walking into Adventureland.
2) Soft Serve Ice Cream from Storybook Treats in Fantasyland
You might be thinking that out of all of the treats in Magic Kingdom, this is a pretty boring choice. However, this soft serve ice cream tastes amazing and is a welcome treat after a couple hours in the sweltering Florida heat. It also tastes extra magical eating it while walking past Cinderella's castle. I personally like the twist on a cone. The soft serve will cost you $5.29 and I guarantee it is some of the best soft serve you will have.
3) Mickey Pretzel from The Lunching Pad in Tommorowland
The Mickey Pretzel is pretty basic but is one of my go-to's when I'm hungry for a snack in Magic Kingdom. It is a soft pretzel shaped like Mickey and is so fun to eat. It is also served with a warm cheese sauce for dipping. Oh boy! A Mickey pretzel with cheese sauce will cost you $7.49 and is the perfect mid-afternoon pick me up. I just wouldn't recommend eating it right before going on Space Mountain...
Honorable mention that I have yet to try: Warm Cinnamon Roll from Gaston's Tavern in Fantasyland
I have heard so many good things about this giant cinnamon roll. I have never been in the right place at the right time for it to make sense to get this breakfast delicacy. When following my Magic Kingdom strategy (see my previous post) I typically do not make it to Fantasyland until afternoon. However, this is my next snack to try in Magic Kingdom and I can't wait to see what all the hype is about. The cinnamon roll costs $6.79 and from what I've heard, is large enough to split with several people.
Hollywood Studios
1) Lunch Box Tart from Woody's Lunch Box in Toy Story Land
My top snack in Hollywood Studios is the Lunch Box Tart from Woody's Lunch Box. This is an adult version of a classic kid treat- the Poptart. It is much larger and has more of a softer cookie texture than a real Poptart, and tastes more like a delicious baked good. The flavors of the Lunch Box Tart rotate seasonally and every time I've visited Toy Story Land I've gotten to try a new flavor. I love the spin on the well-known kid snack as it fits in perfectly with the theming of Toy Story Land. The Lunch Box Tart costs $4.49 and is big enough to share if you don't want to eat it all yourself.
2) Frozen Slushy from Anaheim Produce on Sunset Boulevard
After walking around in the heat at Hollywood Studios for a couple of hours, I tend to be craving a cold slushy. The blue raspberry frozen slushy from Anaheim Produce is delicious! These slushies cost $4.99 each. Sipping one of these while strolling from air conditioned shop to air conditioned shop on Sunset Boulevard is the perfect way to cool down. I could drink a couple of these frozen slushies during a day at Hollywood Studios and find myself wanting one instead of actual food if it's hot enough out. They are the perfect combination of thirst quenching and body cooling. Highly recommend!
Honorable mention that I have yet to try: Jack Jacks Num Num Cookie from the Market in Pixar Place
I have heard about this cookie for awhile now and have yet to try it. I am not a big fan of chocolate chip cookies so I have been hesitant to try it. However, the Num Num Cookie looks interesting and there has recently been such a hype surrounding these cookies that I am curious to sample them. They are described as a warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie tart and cost $6.19. I will have to try one the next time I am in Hollywood Studios.
Animal Kingdom
1) Night Blossom from Pongu Pongu in Pandora- The World of Avatar
Every time I visit Animal Kingdom, I have to get a Night Blossom from Pandora. If you haven't caught on yet, there is something about me and slushies in the Florida heat. The Night Blossom is very good and a must-have after riding Flight of Passage (the stand is conveniently located right next to the exit of the ride). The Night Blossom is an apple and desert pear limeade slushy topped with boba balls. It will cost you $6.29. Not only is the Night Blossom delicious, it's also fun trying to suck up the boba balls through the thick straw (my inner child is showing). The last time I was drinking one in Pandora I had multiple people come up to me and ask where to get one. Definitely recommend this frozen treat!
2) Pulled Pork Sandwich from Flame Tree BBQ in Discovery Island
Okay, okay, this is a snack that is on the larger side. However, the pulled pork really is so good from Flame Tree BBQ and could be a mid-afternoon snack if you need something to hold you over for a late dinner. I make it a point to get Flame Tree BBQ every time I am in Animal Kingdom because it is that good. If you just get the sandwich and skip the side, or even split the sandwich with someone else, it could be a very satisfying snack. The pulled pork sandwich with baked beans costs $11.79 but if you ask for no side, it could possibly save you a dollar or two.
Honorable mention that I have yet to try: Buffalo Chicken Chips at Trilo-Bites in Dinoland
I have heard talk of these chips from other Disney World fans and would really like to try them. These are homemade chips topped with Buffalo chicken and blue cheese, similar to nachos. They cost $9.59. Unfortunately my boyfriend does not like blue cheese so I have not been able to split them with him. However, the next time I am deep into Animal Kingdom in Dinoland and am starting to get hangry, I will definitely be trying these out.
Honorable mention that I have yet to try: Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork from Eight Spoon Cafe in Discovery Island
This baked macaroni & cheese is a snack that I have been hearing about for years and just have never gotten around to trying. For $6.79 you can get cheesy macaroni & cheese topped with BBQ pulled pork. It looks so good and I need to make it a point to try this the next time I'm in Animal Kingdom.
Epcot
This is the Park that I go to the least and therefore I have not gotten many snacks here. When I have visited Epcot, I have usually had a dining reservation at one of the Table Service Restaurants and therefore have not snacked much in order to save room for the big meal. I would like to try "snacking around the world" to sample all the amazing food I know Epcot has in each of the countries. Because of this, this section will mostly be about snacks I have heard great things about and hope to try the next time I am in Epcot.
1) School Bread from Kringla Bakeri Og Kafi in Norway
The School Bread in Norway is one of the best things I have eaten in all of Disney World and will forever be one of my "must-gets" every time I visit Epcot. It is delicious and only costs $4.49. School Bread has a cult fan following and is a sweet roll filled with custard and dipped in coconut. Yum! If I had a park hopper pass, I may consider hopping to Epcot just to grab one of these babies!
2) Any type of Pastry from Les Halles Boulangerie- Patisserie in France
The France Pavilion in Epcot is my favorite country to visit. The decor is so beautiful to look at and you truly feel like you are in Paris. How else to take in the Parisian city than to eat a beautifully crafted pastry next to the Eiffel Tower. Les Halles has such a wide array of pastries ranging from savory sandwiches on baguettes to sweets that are almost too pretty to eat. I tried the macaron the last time I was there, and it was delicious! I still want to try the eclair and croque monsieur. Everything is pretty affordable here, so you can try a few different treats. Calories don't count when you're in Disney, right?!
3) A slice of Pizza from Pizza Al Taglio in Italy
This is a pizza window located right next to the Table Service Italian restaurant Via Napoli in the Italy pavilion. I have heard from numerous people that the pizza from this spot is tastes very authentic to real Sicilian pizza. It is supposedly not as good as the pizza served in Via Napoli, but being able to grab a quick slice while walking through the Italy pavilion lets you have some pizza without having to stop for a full sit-down meal. A slice of pizza costs $9 here. This one is definitely on my list to try!
4) Werther's Original Snickerdoodle Sandwich from Karamell-Kuche in Germany
This is a treat that I have heard mentioned multiple times by Disney World fans. It looks and sounds amazing. I was so close to trying it on my last trip to Epcot, but time got away from me and I never got a chance to. This is something that I NEED to try the next time I am there. It is a sandwich made by two snickerdoodle cookies filled with snickerdoodle icing and caramel and costs $6.99. There are far too many treats to sample in Epcot, which makes it hard to try everything. Guess that means I have to go back, right??
Final Thoughts
If you're anything like me, the snacks are part of what makes a Disney World trip so much fun. Disney is so creative with the snack ideas they have and the multitude of food stands throughout every park will make sure you never go hungry. I tend to gravitate to the same, proven and true snacks, but I am going to make it a point to start sampling new items that I hear about from my fellow Disney fans. Go ahead and try out the snacks I have recommended above and if you have any suggestions on some snacks I haven't tried, please let me know!
