The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant by Gwendolyn Rogers is the newest restaurant to open in Walt Disney World and it is not to be missed. I know I sound like a broken record, as it seems that every time I review a Disney World restaurant I say it is one of my new favorites. However, we recently tried The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant and it was superb. I highly recommend immediately adding it to your must-try list. Everything from the decor, to the service, to the food is top notch and it really is an amazing experience.
The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant opened in October, 2024. It is located on the Boardwalk and absolutely fits in with the ambiance of this area. The storefront has a similar building style as the other structures on the Boardwalk and beautifully showcases floral arrangements and twinkling lights.
Despite the name of the restaurant, The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant serves much more than just cakes. It is a full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant is located right next door to the Cake Bake Shop Bakery, which does solely serve desserts in counter service form. However, the restaurant provides a sit-down experience, with savory foods in addition to sweets.
As can be expected with any new restaurant in Walt Disney World, of course it is extremely difficult to find a dining reservation at this restaurant on the My Disney Experience App. I hate to give up this secret- but this restaurant actually keeps most of its reservations available on Open Table rather than the Disney run app. I was desperately checking the app daily with no luck but was able to snag an Open Table reservation within the same week of our trip. This was very surprising, but definitely a happy discovery which is hopefully not common knowledge!
The location of the restaurant on the Boardwalk is perfect for a nice night out, as you can enjoy the ambiance of the area and perhaps even catch the EPCOT fireworks from outside on the pier. However, since The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant is not located within a park, reaching it can be tricky. The easiest way to get there is either from the International entrance to EPCOT or by taking the Skyliner to EPCOT which deboards at the International entrance. From there, it is a quick 5-minute walk to the Boardwalk, and The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant is located on the end of the Boardwalk closest to EPCOT. If you are not coming from this location, your next best bet would be to take a bus to the Boardwalk Inn and then walk over from that resort.

Now to get on to the dining experience! When you first enter The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant, you are met with the most stunning dining room and decor you will see in any restaurant in Disney World. There are gorgeous chandeliers, sophisticated tables and chairs, and beautiful floral arrangements. It is light, airy, and classy feeling. Even the staff is dressed in pink and white suits and ties.
The vibe of the dining room feels very upscale, which can be a little disorienting if you are dressed in park attire and sweaty from a hot park day like we were. I do have to say that if you can dress up to visit this restaurant, you should. Sometimes it is unrealistic to clean up before dinner at Disney World but prepare yourself to feel a little out of place in your typical park attire. No one said anything to us, but other guests were certainly dressed up and I only saw one other family dressed down like we were. Just something to keep in mind.
The servers at The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant were very good and added to the upscale experience of dining here. They knew the menu well, had recommendations based on our likes/dislikes, and kept up a professional and friendly repertoire. I also appreciated that they did not make us feel bad for looking a bit of a mess after spending the day in Hollywood Studios in 90 degree temps.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served at The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant. We were there for dinner, but I will quickly touch on the offerings for breakfast and lunch. The first note I will make is that the menu is on the pricier side, which adds to the classy feel of the restaurant. I personally thought the prices were higher than a lot of other Table Service restaurants at Disney World, but the quality and taste of the food did make it worth the price. I would save this restaurant for special occasions or for a non-park day so that you can dress up and fully embrace the experience.
Breakfast is offered from 7:00am- 10:30am. The menu includes items like breakfast sandwiches, eggs benedict, waffles, french toast, quiche, and croque-monsieur. I have no doubt all of these items are fantastic, based on our experience with the dinner menu. Lunch is offered from 11:0am to 4:55pm and this menu features sandwiches, soups, and salads. There is even an option to choose 2, allowing you to choose 2 half portions of a sandwich, soup, or salad.
During the afternoon hours, The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant also hosts an afternoon tea. This is something that I would love to try out on a future trip. The tea costs $95 per adult and allows you a wide selection of all you can drink hot teas along with a tray of scones and finger sandwiches. This seems like a fun experience that would be perfect to do with a young daughter.
We were recently at The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant for dinner. Dinner is served from 5:00pm to 11:00pm and really does not disappoint. The menu is light fare, which fits the ambiance of the dining room. However, portions are generous, and you will not leave hungry.

For an appetizer, we split the gumbo poutine. We learned that Gwendolyn Rogers grew up in New Orleans and became famous for her authentic gumbo. Serving it over fries as poutine was a genius idea and I recommend trying this appetizer if you eat here. It is chicken and andouille gumbo served over fries and cheese curds. It was not too spicy, but very flavorful. This appetizer costs $27. Some other appetizers you can find at The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant are truffle fries, pesto burrata, avocado toast, and crab cake.

For my entree, I chose to have the chicken piccata. It was parmesan breaded chicken served with lemon caper pasta and arugula. The lemon flavor was delicious and not overpowering. The caper pasta was very good, and although I am not typically a fan of arugula, it was good with this entree. The flavors were spot on, and I couldn't put my fork down. This entree costs $37.

K.C. chose to have the steak frites for his entree. This is a 12oz New York Strip Steak served pre-sliced with a cognac green peppercorn sauce, topped with fries. This cost $60, which is the most expensive item on the menu. He enjoyed it, but said it probably wasn't worth the high sticker price. Other dinner entree items that can be ordered here are gumbo, salmon sandwich, croque-monsieur, shrimp po'boy, angel hair pomodoro, salmon, crab cakes, and burger.
Finally, you really can't go to The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant and not have dessert. I highly recommend you save room during your meal (which is difficult due to how delicious all the food is). The dessert menu is quite vast with many different options.
Of course, there is cake- the restaurant serves humongous cake slices for $22 each. We saw a few tables order the cake slices while we were there, and I am not exaggerating when I say 4 people could split one slice. The menu has a very wide range of cake options, reminding me a bit of the cheesecake menu at The Cheesecake Factory. However, if you're looking for a smaller dessert or something other than cake, you will be covered as well. The menu also features banana pudding, key lime pie, brownie sundae, ice cream sundae, macarons, cookies, and truffles.

We opted for the million-dollar sundae, which was a brownie, Ghirardelli chocolate, caramel drizzle, homemade vanilla ice cream, and shortbread cookie pieces. WOW! This was hands down the best brownie sundae I have ever had. The homemade ice cream really pulled the whole dessert together. It was a little large, but is perfect to be split between 2 or 3 people. This dessert will cost you $16.
We really enjoyed out experience dining at The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant. It is a beautiful restaurant with food that is delicious. The only downsides are the high prices and the unspoken pressure to dress up to dine here. I would absolutely eat here again, but likely on a non-park day, so that I could dress up and enjoy the meal. I definitely recommend trying The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant next time you are in the Boardwalk area of Disney World!
