Top 5 Date Nights in Walt Disney World

In light of having just gotten married a few weeks ago, this week's blog post is on the more romantic side. A trip to Disney World doesn't just have to be about the parks. Whether you are on an adults only Disney trip with your partner, or you are taking a break from your kids for one night on a family Disney trip, there are options to have a date night that is both magical and romantic. Here are my top 5 picks for a date night in Walt Disney World!

1) California Grill

While I have never actually been to California Grill myself, it is often viewed as a bucket list restaurant for a lot of Disney World fans. California Grill is located in the Contemporary Resort, and what makes it so special is floor to ceiling windows that line the walls giving you an amazing panoramic view of the Castle and Seven Seas Lagoon while enjoying your meal. If you time your meal right, you can even view the fireworks going off over the Castle during your dinner, while the music is piped into the restaurant. This sounds truly magical.

California Grill is one of the fancier restaurants at Walt Disney World and as such there guests are required to follow a dress code to eat here. This is perfect for date night, as you can get dressed up to impress your partner. In my opinion nothing beats luxury mixed with magic.

The only meal served at California Grill is dinner, so it is perfect for a nighttime date. The menu features a prix-fixed 3 course meal. For $89 per adult, guests can choose 1 appetizer, 1 entree, and 1 dessert from the menu. While this may seem expensive at first glance, it is comparable to the price charged at Be Our Guest, as is a much classier experience with better quality food. The California Grill menu also features an extensive wine collection, mostly sourced from California wines. Guests even have the option of purchasing a 3 course wine pairing, for an additional $72 per adult.

This restaurant would be the perfect place to have a romantic dinner while in Disney World. I would recommend doing this during one of your non-park days so that you can be well put together and relaxed to enjoy the entire experience. Bonus points if you score an 8pm reservation so that you line up your meal with Happily Ever After! I will definitely be trying California Grill if we are ever in Disney World for our anniversary.

2) Three Bridges Bar & Grill

Some people may be surprised by this choice, as Three Bridges is a lesser known gem that can be found at Coronado Springs Resort. I personally find Three Bridges to be incredibly magical and romantic.

The restaurant is open air and located on a dock in the middle of Villa del Lago at Coronado Springs Resort. The seating area features tables overlooking the water, with no table seeming to have a bad view. There is mood lighting with minimal overhead lights, the main light supply coming from fire pits scattered throughout the restaurant and candles on each table. The Spanish ambiance creates a lovely night for you and your partner.

One of the nicer aspects of this restaurant, is that they do not accept reservations. It is a much more laid back vibe, and you can stop by the restaurant whenever you are ready to grab a bite or a sangria. The My Disney Experience App also allows you to join the waitlist from the App, so you do not have to physically go put your name on the list with the hostess.

Three Bridges is only open for dinner and remains open late into the night (until 12am). This is perfect for the open air concept of the restaurant, because you can admire the lights of the resort while eating. The menu is casual, featuring Mexican food (entrees ranging from $20-$25), sangria flights, and margaritas. The food is delicious.

I would absolutely eat dinner at Three Bridges even if I was not staying at Coronado Springs. It is an affordable, laid back spot for a very magical date night.

3) The Boathouse

I have heard Disney fans rave about The Boathouse for years, and just recently tried it myself for the first time. It truly is a magical experience eating at this restaurant. The Boathouse is in Disney Springs and serves both lunch and dinner. For a romantic date, it would be best to eat dinner at this restaurant.

The Boathouse is situated right on the waterfront in Disney Springs and offers both inside and outside seating. I highly recommend the outdoors seating, as it is quite literally a waterfront view with the tables overlooking Lake Buena Vista. It is incredibly romantic if you are dining at night and can admire the lights on the water and across the way at Saratoga Springs.

The Boathouse does tend to fill up quickly, so you will want to make this a priority during your dining reservation day. The menu at this restaurant features mainly seafood, but there are a couple of non-seafood entrees like chicken breast, steak, and a cheeseburger (for seafood haters like my husband...). The menu is a little pricey with seafood options around $30 and steak getting up to $69. However, the ambiance is laid back and there is no required dress code.

Overall a date night at The Boathouse is incredibly magical. The outdoor, waterfront seating combines with the absolutely delicious food makes for a great night. Also the fact that The Boathouse is located in Disney Springs makes it a perfect spot to do some after dinner shopping and grab an ice cream cone at Ghirardelli.

4) Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party

While this is not a "restaurant" per se, the Fireworks Dessert Party can be a very special treat that is different than your normal fireworks experience in Magic Kingdom. It is a little something out of the norm to add some magic to a date night or special occasion with your partner.

The Fireworks Dessert Party takes place in Magic Kingdom every night, during the fireworks spectacular over Cinderella's Castle. It costs $119 - $129 per adult, which is definitely pricey and makes this more of a special occasion event rather than an every trip event. You can book your slot at a Dessert Party starting 60 days out.

By booking the Fireworks Dessert Party, you get to enjoy special desserts, cheeses, wine, and beer at the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant. You are also provided reserved seating on the Terrace to watch the Fireworks display while you enjoy your desserts. It is almost worth the price tag just to have the reserved seating for the fireworks. No battling crows, standing on weary feet, or holding your fireworks viewing spot for hours. There is also a cheaper option that ranges from $99 - $109 per adult, if you are okay with standing in a reserved area on Plaza Garden during the fireworks, rather than sitting on the Terrace.

This is a truly magical experience to have with your partner, enjoying delicious sweets while watching the awe inspiring fireworks show. It sounds like a very romantic way to end a day in Magic Kingdom, as a cherry on top!

5) Le Cellier

Those that follow my blog will know that I have written about Le Cellier a few times, and it is definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Disney World. Le Cellier is located in the Canada Pavillion of EPCOT, and is tucked away off of the beaten path. It truly feels far removed from the busy park and you feel like you are in a completely different world when you enter this restaurant.

Le Cellier is located in the dimly lit, cozy cellar of a Canadian château. The ambiance itself is extremely romantic, with low flickering lighting, stone arches, and lots of tables for 2. The dining room feels very upscale, making this the perfect spot for a romantic, fancy date night. The menu is pricey, so even though it is located within the park, it is suggested to make this a special occasion meal rather than just an ordinary dinner. Plan to linger and enjoy the company of your date, in the romantic setting.

Le Cellier's food is absolutely delicious. The menu is mostly focused on delicious cuts of high grade steaks, but also features other items like pork chops and chicken. A steak entree will cost you around $60, but I genuinely believe the price is worth it because it is some of the best steak I have ever had.

Le Cellier is absolutely one of the best restaurants in all of Disney World. The amazing food coupled with the cozy, dimly lit ambiance makes for a pretty amazing date night with your partner. After dinner, you can head back out to EPCOT for an after dinner drink, or a ride on Remy's.

Well there you have it- those are my top 5 date night spots in Walt Disney World. I hope you are able to check them out, if ever alone with your partner in Disney. With a little imagination and magic, you can see just how romantic a Disney date night can be!
